Investing Tools to Help Build, Manage, and Track Your Portfolios
Many people are anxious about investing, and much of the online advice is either inappropriate for their age and income or biased, leading them to do far worse than just following simple, proven guidelines. In Volume 2, I introduce Dad’s Rule #35, which says, “Don’t make investing more complicated than necessary." You'll get started with the basics of investing, including opening an account, selecting investments, and building a portfolio for retirement or other long-term goals.
While a broker or financial planner can put together an appropriate portfolio for your retirement, don’t fall for the common assumption that investing success requires years working on Wall Street, stock-picking skills, or selecting the right funds. In fact, an individual investor can beat most fund managers by investing in the whole market at low expenses, eliminating up to 2% or more in fees and commissions that they’ll take year after year. I’ll show you that following simple practices and ignoring the noise can lead to investing success. While Volume 2 provides the necessary investing education, the Volume 2 spreadsheets help you build, compare, track, and rebalance any portfolio by yourself.
You can build and compare up to 10 portfolios with the Portfolio Evaluator spreadsheet.
Rebalance investments to manage risk over time using the Portfolio Rebalancer spreadsheet.
Track the value and performance of your portfolio with the Portfolio Tracker.
You’ll see the results of historical portfolio returns and volatility for your chosen asset allocation and can test out the impact of portfolio investments or allocation changes. Then, move on to Volume 3 and the corresponding spreadsheets, where you can build retirement portfolios for Growth or Income.

Easy to Use Spreadsheets with Instructions and Examples
Each Investing Tools spreadsheet begins with a README tab that provides an overview of the tool's setup and usage, along with a completed example tab that displays the spreadsheet's results once it is finished. The spreadsheets are compatible with Microsoft Excel and the free OpenOffice application.
I've grouped the spreadsheets by book volume, so you can purchase only those needed for your Early, Middle, or Later years or buy them all as a bundle at a discount. There's no subscription or license. Just download them to your desktop or laptop computer.
