Support for LibreOffice suite
LibreOffice is a free, downloadable office software suite for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, etc. It is supplied by The Documentation Foundation as an open source alternative to other paid and free office suite products. For more information and to download, go to: https://www.libreoffice.org/
Its origins are as a successor project to OpenOffice, the original Apache Software Foundation, which provided a community-developed open source, free office suite. While OpenOffice is still being developed and supported - and can be used with the WWDD spreadsheets provided here - LibreOffice is an alternate application that is compatible with the .xls formats of the Excel spreadsheets. When opening Excel files with LibreOffice, save them in the default Open Document Format (.ods) for future use.
As of 10/1/25, initial testing indicates that all WWDD spreadsheets are compatible with LibreOffice. If you have not purchased Excel or have it available, you now have the option to use LibreOffice as well as OpenOffice (www.openoffice.org) as an alternative. This post will be updated if further testing identifies any incompatibilities or limitations.
